The Free Book Program: Supporting a 4-Year-Old’s Mission to Share Canada’s ABCs

A Canadian ABC book for every child

When four-year-old Kedaar Mungali decided to create his own Canadian ABC book, he wasn’t thinking about sales or profits. He was thinking about friends. He wanted every child he knew to share in the joy of discovering Canada’s stories, symbols, and traditions.

That simple wish turned into From Aurora to Zamboni: An ABC Journey Through Canada. A playful and beautifully illustrated book that celebrates the country from coast to coast. But Kedaar’s mission didn’t stop there. He wanted every child to have access, even if their families couldn’t afford to buy a copy.

That is how the Free Book Program was born.

A Child’s Vision of Inclusion

During his summer break, Kedaar worked diligently to bring the book to life. He helped lock down every subject, approved every illustration, chose fun facts, and even weighed in on the layout. When the book finally looked the way he imagined, he had a bold idea:

“Can we make every child have this, even if they can’t buy it?”

For a four-year-old, this was more than a creative project. It was a mission of kindness and sharing.

How the Free Book Program Works

The program is simple and direct:
• Families who cannot afford a copy can request one at no cost.
• Supporters can sponsor a copy for just $7.99. Sponsored books are donated directly to children through the program.
• Maple Beaver and the Author cover shipping and handling so families receive the book free of charge.

Every sponsored book puts From Aurora to Zamboni into the hands of a child who might otherwise miss out.

Why It Matters

Books do more than entertain. They shape how children see the world. For Canadian kids, learning about their own country through fun facts and colourful illustrations helps build pride and belonging.

The Free Book Program makes sure that no child is left out of that journey. It’s a small step toward literacy, inclusion, and cultural connection, the values that resonate deeply with families across Canada.

How You Can Support

There are three ways to be part of this mission:

1. Buy a Copy — Bring Canada’s ABCs into your home and spark your child’s curiosity.

2. Sponsor a Copy — Fund a book that goes directly to a family in need.

3. Share the Story — Tell friends, schools, and libraries about the Free Book Program so the impact can grow.

Join Kedaar’s Mission

At just four years old, Kedaar has already proven that creativity and kindness can go hand in hand. With your support, we can make sure From Aurora to Zamboni reaches children across the country.
