About the Design

In August 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing U.S. federal agencies to use the name “Lake America” for Lake Ontario.

Our response is a celebration of the history and identity of Lake Ontario, and a gentle reminder that the Great Lakes need no help being made “great again.”

Drawing from traditional cartography and dictionary typography, the design traces the familiar shoreline of Lake Ontario alongside three words that say it all: Original · Authentic · Unadulterated.
